3rd Place and State

Morgan and I qualified for state on Friday. I honestly did not think that we would make state but luckily we did. We practiced our piece as soon as we got to the school because we did not practice it at all beforehand. I have a major problem with waiting to the last minute to finish anything, so Morgan and I almost did not have a finished piece. Luckily we did finish our piece just in time.

In the first round everything was going smoothly and then out of nowhere, I had a panic attack. I have no idea why it happened, but it did. And to make things worse, it happened right before it was our turn. I still presented our piece with Morgan because I didn’t want her to have to say it by herself. We only got a score of 58 because of me. Usually, I speak louder, but I could barely speak at all, so we got a lower score in volume. On the bright side, the judge said we had good eye contact.

We were the last ones to go so when we finished Morgan and I went to put our stuff down and go tell Mrs.Wells. She helped me calm down, told me to eat something, and to relax. She was also a little confused on why I had a panic attack because this is my second year in forensics and this has never happened before. After talking to Mrs.Wells I got a plate of food and sat with Dakota because she was helping me calm down. I don’t think that I should have eaten anything because I got a stomach ache.

Soon enough, it was time for round two to start. Morgan and I went to our room, but my stomach got really bad and I just started crying. We asked the judge to go to the bathroom and of course, he said yes. When we got back from the bathroom our judge had left the room so we had to wait outside of the room. When he had got back everyone walked in the room and I almost threw up. Morgan quickly brought me a garbage can just in case. I was crying the whole round because my stomach was killing me, but Morgan helped me the whole time. I was considering not performing with Morgan in round two but I did. Even though I was crying, I still read my part.

After the round was finished, we went back down by Mrs.Wells to tell her what happened. We then walked back to the gym where I laid down for a little while. Not too long after I laid down a One Direction song came on and I sat up immediately and started singing with Morgan and Dakota. I then stood up and started dancing. It must have helped because I was starting to feel a lot better. When the awards were being presented I did not think we were going to win so I did not pay any attention but again, Morgan was. She heard our code called and we had won third place. I was overwhelmed with joy because I thought we did horrible. I was then considering the fact that we still could have gotten a red ribbon but we didn’t. We actually got another blue ribbon which qualifies us for the state tournament. Overall the night was crazy, but it ended well.

Another Red Ribbon

Unfortunately, Morgan and I once again revived a red ribbon. On the bright side, we did power. After powering we claimed second place in the News Reporting category. Overall the day was very exciting and at times I got a little flustered. The first round ran late so we had to start round two a little later. Everything got back on schedule around lunch time.

As the first round was about to start Morgan and I got lost. We walked in the complete opposite direction we should have and missed the staircase. When we walked into our room, I could just feel everyone’s eyes on us because we were the last people in the room. Our first judge looked very kind, but she wasn’t. She gave Morgan and me our lowest score that we’ve ever had. She gave us a 55 out of 70! That’s horrible! I actually thought that we did well in the first round. She didn’t even write anything that we need to fix so I don’t know how we are supposed to fix our “problem” that we don’t really have. The one thing that she did say we needed to fix was eye contact. I think that they just need to stop writing during our piece so that they can see us making eye contact.

Our room for round two was easy to find because it was the same room we had in round one. The judge in round two looked like she was going to give us a bad score, but we made it out with a score of 62 out of 70. That is what we should have got in both rounds, and not just one. I do feel like I did better in the second round than in round one, but we still did well in the first round.

The worst part of the day and the best part of the day came together. My least favorite part of the day was having to wait to find out if we powered. Before the powers were posted I had fun dancing but once one category went up I sat down and waited until my category was posted. There was a short period of time when me, Morgan, Michael, and Sandy stood on the benches to try and see over the crowd but it did not work. The mob of people stood too close to the screen so we had trouble seeing the screen. When they finally posted our category, I was not paying attention but luckily Morgan was. She got my attention and we grabbed our stuff and went up to our room. When the power round was over we went to the cafeteria to get something to eat. When we finished eating, we went to the gym to dance more. It was hard to relax knowing that we had a chance to win the first or second place. When it was time for the awards I got very anxious and somewhat scared. When our category was called we made our way up the stairs and onto the stage. We received the silver medal for second place. Overall the day was enjoyable.

Shadowing my Sister

So today I am shadowing my sister at SFHS and we had to leave so early this morning I don’t even know if I can make it through the day. we got to the school around 6:20 which is really early. We have just been sitting here the whole time and I am very bored. There also in not any wifi so that makes this a whole lot worse. I will be coming back to school for forensics but I am not going to come while school I going on.

Red Ribbons

The meet that just passed had three rounds. Unfortunately, Morgan and I got a red ribbon. In the first round we got a score of 58. That is really bad compared to the last score we got. In our second round we got a score of 63, which is good. In our last round we got a 60. The paper Mrs.Well got said that we got a 58, 60, and 100 and our average was 39.  We clearly knew that was wrong but we still had to think about that for a while because we were trying to figure out what the average would actually be if we got 100. The average came out to 72. Anyways, our real average was only 60. Next week we will get to hopefully experience a power round. That’s all for now. Bye.

2017 Forensics Meet

Yesterday was our first forensics meet of the season. This year you have to get a average score of 62 to get a blue ribbon. Lat year we only needed an average of 56. I was scared that Morgan and I would not get a blue ribbon but we did. Not many people got a blue ribbon but for those who did, congratulation.

In our fist round we got a little confused finding the room but we made it there. We were the first News Reporters to speak. Our time was 7 minutes and 52 seconds. I feel  like I could have done better but I guess I did fine because Morgan and I got a score of 64. In round two we were in the same room so it was easy to get there. Our time for round two was 7 minutes and 51 seconds. I feel like we did better the second round but we still got a score of 64. That is a good score but we could have done better.

After both the rounds we just hungout for a long time. A couple of the rooms took a little longer to finish so we had to wait even longer. At the end of the meet everyone was getting frustrated because we all just wanted to get a blue ribbon and go home. When we got on the bus people got calm as they got there papers handed to them. There was a bus full of disappointment but I know I was happy. The day was long but I had fun.

Split

I went to the movies with my mom today to watch the new movie Split, but I don’t think it was that good. I was expecting it to be a little more scary but it was really laid back and it kinda dragged on. It was an okay movie but I would not recommend it to someone.

Morgan Wall

IMG_1173.JPGThis is my best friend Morgan Wall. We became friends in 5th grade and have been friends sense then. Many people tried to make us not be friends but no matter what we stayed friends. We still argue often but we never hold grudges on each other. We could argue for an hour and when we finish arguing we would just play a game. We still argue but that is fun for us. I think we learn a lot about each other when we argue.

Morgan and I have done quite a bit together. In 5th grade we made a band called Mkats. It lasted for a while. We still use that name sometimes. In 6th grade Morgan and I started hanging out a lot. Some of her other friends did not like that so we stopped hanging out for a little bit. Not to long after we were very good friends. During the summer before 7th grade we put a show together. We actually had a few shows. This show in particular was memorable. Me and Morgan danced to “Katy Perry, Hot and Cold”. Annika sang “Katy Perry, Dark Horse”. Connor danced to the chicken dance and Kylie sang and danced with us.

In seventh grade me and Morgan were even better friends. About half way through the school year we became best friends. Morgan and I decided to try forensic together. We were news reporters. We called our news channel “Mkats Channel 5 News”. I think we did a good job for our first time. We placed third at city and made it to state. We will be doing forensics again this year. We got lucky in soccer. We were wishing to be on the same team and we were. Some of the practices were fun. We even made our own game while we waited for Mr.Conti to show up.

Now we are in eighth grade together. We will be best friends for as long as possible. Definitely this whole year. It might be hard to stay in touch with her in high school but I hope we can stay friends forever.

Winter Break

Over winter break,  I got to reconnect with a lot of my family. On the last day of school, which was a Thursday I went to my Aunt Dales house for a gift exchange. I got to see my aunt of course and my two older cousins, Austin and Brandon. I also saw my brother for the first time in a while. On Friday my mom and I went to my auntie Dawn’s house and I saw three more of my cousins, Eric, Erica, and James.

After we left their house my mom and I went to Pick’n’Save to buy our families Christmas dinner. Wee made chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and corn. We did not get to eat it till about seven because my brother was taking forever to get home from work, but it still tasted good. After dinner, my sister made Christmas cookies. After they were done baking and cooling my brother and I decorated them. Most of them turned out good. Some of the ones my brother made were ugly because they either had red frosting for blood or they split into two pieces. Christmas Eve morning I opened the presents at my mom’s house. My favorite thing I got was a new water speaker. I also got a new matching bed set, a fondue maker, chocolate, strawberries, and a new blue flannel.

My dad picked me up from from my mom’s house on Christmas eve night. He let me open the presents from him when we got to the house. He bought me two wii  remotes, one blue and one pink and just dance 2017. I also got and pair of Moccasins and three sets of pajamas. On Christmas Day we went to my grandpa’s house. It was kinda boring because I was the only kid but my grandpa was feeling good so everyone was happy. It is always nice to know that he is feeling well. For Christmas, my grandma and grandpa got me a pair of Moccasins, a stuffed animal, and money. My grandpa’s sister gave me jewelry and my Uncle Dennis got me resses peanut butter cups. The day after Christmas I went back to my grandpas to hangout with my cousins. They got me a new blanket and super soft socks.

Tomorrow

Every year I celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve at my moms house, and Christmas day with my dad. That means I will be getting Christmas presents tomorrow morning. I honestly am super excited because Coreena knows what I got but I don’t, but I will tomorrow. I know that I got a new flannel and a new blanket, but that is all I know. My mom and I have prepared a Christmas dinner for tonight. All we need together do is cook everything. We did not cook anything yet because my brother works until 7, and we want to eat as a family. That is all for now. I will write about what my mom got me tomorrow. Bye.
